I used a dowel rod, and then my computer fits nicely in the corner. installing the hutch is optional. It's pretty small for most monitors these days, but the corner is a great place for the computer. I received this desk today and went about unpacking and assembling it in my upstairs office. The packaging kept the desk mostly protected but I did notice some small dings on the corners of the panels while I was removing them from the box. As with most assemble-at-home products, I picture a man in a factory somewhere in the world saying "HA! There is NO way that poor sap will EVER figure out how to put this thing together!" After some head scratching and PhD level trigonometry I deciphered the poorly drawn pictures and got all of the screws in place. The final product looks nice and feels sturdy. I have a 21" monitor on the pedestal and there's plenty of room to support the base. The opposite side of the desk is large enough to accommodate my bulky all-in-one printer/scanner. I'm 6'4" and I have no problem fitting under the desk comfortably. So I haven't spent hours sitting at this desk working yet, but my initial impression is it was worth the price and should work out fine... Read more
