I bought this desk for placing my imac. It is the cheapest desk on Amazon with free shipping(except another desk that is too small for an imac). Now I am writing the review on the desk right after assembling it. I am very unsatisfied with its quality.Firstly, all the screws scattered everywhere in the package. No extra screws. No labels on the parts. The glue spilled out when I opened the plastic bag that contains the glue bottle. Although all these are not big problem as long as you are careful, this still shows the manufacturer has not taken customers' convenience into consideration. Secondly, half the holes are not drilled deep enough and are extremely tight. A few holes are no more than mere shallow marks on the surface. Two of the holes are even in wrong places. I needed a cheap desk that was small and suitable for an old laptop and a small printer for my mom, esp. being so pressed for money at Holiday time. For a long time she was using an old child's nightstand as her desk and it was uncomfortable because there was no room for anything, and no foot room. Upon looking at this item I noticed that it had a lot of negative review and I was afraid to give it a chance. The size, price and style of it however was perfect for my needs, esp since it had no keyboard slide out and it had the top area to the side for the printer. I decided to take a chance since I also signed up for Amazon prime recently and would receive free shipping. The desk is cheap, it is particleboard, not wood. The instructions were a bit tricky as well. Upon arrival the desk had been delivered safely, no damage. Putting it together it did hold though it was definitely a two man job. Ordered two of these and expected some low quality materials but what I received was just rubbish. They're too heavy and inexpensively purchased to bother sending back but I'm very disappointed.The posts on the desks are plastic, the pressboard is about 1/4 of an inch thick, the desks came pre-scuffed and worn around the edges, one of the desks was missing a pilot hole, and the other desk had some breakage from screwing in areas and also from the wooden dowels. I know you may be shopping on a budget but splurge the extra $10 or whatever it takes to get a decent desk. These are junk. |
