I bought this desk to replace an aging prefab wood desk & hutch that had served me well for many years. I was drawn to this one because of the tower stand on the side. I have a pretty powerful PC that runs hot, so keeping it in a cubby hole is terrible for temperature regulation, and having it under the desk just blows all the hot air on my legs. This one solved that problem and looked swanky, to boot. During assembly, I noticed a few damaged parts. There was a small nick in the wood on the keyboard tray, which I covered up with some black electric tape. One of the back shelves, part E, had one of its sliders off. The screws were ripped right out of... I'm a grad student and this desk is perfect for my vast amount of clutter. The other review was right, regarding the height of the monitor stand - but it works fine for me because I have an imac and the screen is large enough for me to angle without any problems. Can't put a pencil cup under the monitor/printer stand but you can put one in the gap in the middle. The keyboard tray doesn't come out far enough and the 'sticking' of the tray is only during the first uses. It becomes a lot easier to slide the tray in and out after a couple of uses. The keyboard tray is covered with a thin paper adhesive.. which will probably come off if I keep on catching it with my knees.. The legs of the desk have these cd slots. Never gonna use them but this desk was probably designed a few years ago. Depending on your computer you may have to purchase wireless accessories. I didn't have to use the tower stand, which can be removed... Read more 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Amazon Verified Purchase This is a top notch desk. Right out of the box this is one of the higher quality furnishings I have purchased. It was definitely the best packaged product I have ever purchased. Everything was snug with styrofoam, wrapped tightly, and completely blemish free.In regards to the desk itself, everything is top notch. I was worried about the attachable tower stand after looking at the picture, but was relieved that my heavy tower system is working fine on it since it has a floor support, which is typically left out of the pictures online. Assembly was very quick, less than an hour easily. All in all a great purchase, and very much at the bargain price of $149, which is considerably lower then many other sites, some of which I saw charging in the upwards of $250+ for the same desk (which would still be well worth it). |
