Overall, it's a decent unit, but has a few failings that might make you rethink the purchase, even at this reasonable price. It's solidly built and moves easily, and it's not too hard to put together. The instructions could be better: it's a single 8.5 x 11 double-sided sheet with no words that actually spell out the steps, relying completely on images. This would be okay if the images focused better on the specific tasks instead of showing full-figure shots of the assembly in process. The parts fit as expected, and the entire assembly took me about 40 minutes. There are pilot holes for most of the screws, but several of the smaller ones have to be tapped directly into the composite boards. Once it's done, the minuses begin to show up, with the worst problem being the keyboard shelf. It doesn't slide very far out relative to the top of the desk, and it's neither... As outlined in the first review, the keyboard pullout tray is only big enough for the keyboard, so you have to put the mouse on top of the desk. That's not a big deal as long as you have an LCD monitor, (who doesn't now days?) The wheels are definitely nice to have. There is nothing worse than trying to move a fully loaded desk that doesn't have wheels... 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Target Marketing Systems Cambridge Computer Desk (Kitchen) We're trying to make room in our home for a new addition, so we got this smaller, more mobile computer cart for my husband's gaming space, since it is in the now-nursery.Overall, the desk is fine. It was missing a pair of cams so unfortunately it's not as sturdy as it should be, but it does make his computer much more mobile (we just moved it from one side of the room to the other last night). The keyboard tray doesn't slide out far enough, so if you're a 'hunt and peck' type person, I wouldn't recommend this desk, but for people that are very familiar with a keyboard then it's just fine. The desk area itself is a bit small depending on the screen you have - my husband has a 24" LCD and he has to put the speakers behind the monitor. Overall for the price it's a decent desk. Note, I paid $39 for the desk, I don't know if it's really worth more. |
